Best Telescopes – Reflector or Refractor, Which Is the Best Telescope?
Telescopes are the most popular and useful instruments in astronomy. They can be used for all kinds of activities, from observing celestial objects to finding your way around. Reflector vs Refractor – which is the best telescope?
There are two types of telescopes, reflector and refractor. Each type has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Reflectors generally have a wider field of view than refractors but they don’t produce as much magnification. Refractors, on the other hand, have higher magnification but not as wide a field of view. Reflectors
The advantage of reflectors is that they are cheaper to manufacture because they only have one lens or mirror instead of two like most refractors do. This means that you get more for your money if you buy a reflector. They also require less maintenance because there are fewer parts to clean or fix if something breaks down. However, because reflectors rely on mirrors, they tend to show distortion at high magnifications (as much as 50%) which makes it more difficult to focus on objects at long distances. Refractors are much more expensive than reflectors. They are also more difficult to collimate, but the images they produce are bright and sharp. When you look through a refractor, you will see objects as they appear in real life, with no magnifying or inverting effects.
A refractor uses lenses made out of glass or plastic to focus light into a single point on an image plane where an eyepiece or camera can then be placed. This makes it easier for astronomers to see faint objects in space like stars that would otherwise be invisible without magnification.
